Ricardian Revelries
Once
again it is time to gather for the Annual General Meeting of the Richard III
Society, American Branch. We will elect officers for the coming
year, learn about life in the 15th century, meet with old friends and make
new ones.
Our theme this year will focus on the way 15th century people
amused themselves in their leisure time. We will learn about their
music, their sports, their food, their clothing, their books, and their theatre. We
will even have an opportunity to learn a medieval dance! At Saturday's
Luncheon we will conduct Society Business and also enjoy the new, improved
Raffle drawing.
A sales area will be open during the AGM, featuring items from
the Society Sales Office as well as a used book table sponsored by the Michigan
Area Chapter. We will also set up our Library Display, which has
been so well received here in Michigan.
At the Saturday night Banquet in the "Great Hall", we will be
entertained by a comedy troupe - such as those by which King Richard III might
have been entertained.
So come one, come all to centrally-located Michigan. As
an added attraction, a docent-led tour of nearby Greenfield Village, will
be an option on Sunday after the Schallek Benefit Breakfast.

Different airlines use different terminals at Detroit Metro Airport. Once
you arrive, look for a Hospitality Phone at the luggage pick-up area in your
terminal and call the Marriott for a Courtesy Van, (734) 729-7555. Red
Marriott vans run approximately every 15 minutes. Inquire as to
where the van will pick up passengers.
If You Are Driving:
Take I-75 or I-275 to I-94. Get off at the Merriman Road North

AGM Raffle Instructions
This year the AGM raffle
will be held in a new and different way! There will be ten prize
groupings and a special Grand Prize. When purchasing your raffle
tickets, you will be asked which prizes you wish to win. Your raffle
tickets will be entered into the drawing for those prizes only. Each
ticket you buy will be put in the basket in front of the prize grouping of
your choice. You may purchase as many tickets as you like and put
them all in one basket - or divide them between the different baskets in any
way you choose. The winning tickets will be selected during the
Saturday lunch. Raffle tickets for each of the ten baskets will
be $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00 as in the past.
The Grand Prize is a detailed 7 inch tall sculpture of "Richard
on Horseback". A raffle ticket for this drawing will be $5.00 each
or 3 for $10.00. See the Spring Ricardian Register p. 15 for more
information.
Schallek Breakfast Raffle
The
Schallek Breakfast Raffle is for a ceramic tile based on a rose window,
created by our current Schallek scholar, Lisa Cooper. The tickets
for this raffle are also $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. The drawing
will be held at the Schallek Breakfast, Sunday morning. The
proceeds from this raffle will go to the Schallek Fund.
