The
Great Hall,
showing the raised dais with its High Table; side table; woven and painted
cloth wall hangings; tile floor; and central hearth.
This wing was enlarged in the fifteenth century. In a piece of dubious building practice it was cut into one of the main beams of the old building, which required careful reconstructive work.
Furnishings for the Great Hall were made possible by a grant from the London Clothworkers' Guild.
