Great
Hall. This
view, from the doorway, shows the glass wall added to make the Hall visible
to tourists passing through the snickelway. The glass wall is curtained by
a heavy wool and worsted coster or curtain, hanging from cast bronze rings
on a forged iron rail.
The side tables, visible here, are made of quarter-sawn oak planks secured with wooden pegs. High settle-type benches of elm are covered with draped seat covers or "bankers."
