rose

planGreat Hall. White roses adorn the painted wall hangings in this banquet hall. This white-rose motif is derived from an image from a Book of Hours produced in York for John Bolton, Lord Mayor of York, now in the York Minster Abbey.

The crown and IHS monogram, emblematic of Christ, appear in the center of the rose and form the other painted motif.
