Great Hall--click for enlargement

planGreat Hall - High Table. The most important guests would have been seated at this high table on the raised dais. Unlike the side tables, the high table trestles have carved aprons based on motifs in Cowthorpe church and in Ripon Cathedral..

The benches are made of elm and covered by a fitted "banker" or seat cover, of the same material as the wall hangings in the Parlor. The dorser (red cloth) above the High Table bench is dyed red with madder and will eventually be embroidered.
