Standard, Ambion Hill This view of Richard III's battle standard, from near the summit of Ambion Hill, shows the sweeping views of the largely flat Leicestershire countryside available from this vantage point. Although Ambion Hill gave Richard the tactical advantages of the high ground, its long narrow shape meant that only a small portion of his troops could engage in battle if the opposing forces mounted their attack at the narrow side. |
