From the crest of Ambion Hill, to the left of this photograph, Richard III led his cavalry charge toward the troops of Henry Tudor on the plain below, according to one interpretation of the evidence. Another suggests that Richard moved his troops off the hill and onto the plain at the commencement of battle. Like everything else about Richard's life and reign, his final charge is still a matter of passionate debate. A closeup of the sign in this photo is shown in the next image.
