Richard's Field A General View The unmown grasses and scrubby trees allow the midsummer visitor to envision the final battle scene, possibly with deceptive results. It may have taken place elsewhere, and both the terrain and the plant communities may have been considerably different. Still this view, with the road to the right, the canal embankment just beyond the trees toward the left, and the stream in the background, belies its proximity to farm and roadway. It is a poignantly pleasant spot to stop and reflect on the fate that befell so many young men in fifteenth-century England. |
