The Church of St James
Sutton Cheney
Sutton Cheney Church is the focus of the Richard III Society's commemorative activities in August. A memorial service and wreath laying is held here the afternoon of the Sunday closest to the August 22 anniversary.
The wreaths are hung next to the Society's commemorative plaque, which reads

REMEMBER BEFORE GOD
RICHARD III
AND THOSE THAT FELL
AT BOSWORTH FIELD
HAVING KEPT FAITH
Loyaulte me lie

The plaque remembers not only Richard III but also the fallen faithful on both sides as befits a memorial in a house of worship. Wording was suggested by the Society's former historian, the late George Awdry.
