December 1997

• December 31--Added a chapter on Sir Thomas More's The History of King Richard III from Richard Marius's 1984 biography of More.
• December 8--Added The Statutes Ordained by Richard Duke of Gloucester, for the College of Middleham, dated July 4, 1478.

November 1997

• November 7--Bootstrap your way to Ricardian expertise with this Back to Basics study guide.
• November 5--What about all those red and white roses? Here's a page on the White Rose of York and other royal roses, the work of member Kathleen Spaltro.

October 1997

• October 19--In addition to redesigning the home page, the first step in a site overhaul, we included a new Introduction/Contents page with links to some Quick Start pages for students and folks interested in exploring the historical controversy. Also a link to another site offering a Java application for rearranging the facial features of Henry Tudor -- all in good fun, of course.

August 1997

July 1997

• January 1, 1997--Audiovisual Resources for Teachers--information on films for teaching Richard III and the middle ages.

December 1996

• December 31--Two new resources for teachers: a viewer's guide and lesson plan for Looking for Richard developed by Youth Media International in cooperation with Fox Searchlight Pictures; and an "open-web" quiz that teachers can adapt to their courses to help students build web search and evaluation skills.
• December 24--We have been advised that the mock trial of Richard III, Chief Justice William Rehnquist presiding, will air on C-SPAN Saturday, January 4, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. EST.

November 1996

• November 20--Completed the hypertext edition of Shakespeare's Richard the Third with links to excerpts from Charles Ross's biography of Richard III.
• November 16-- Added hypertext edition of Horace Walpole's Historic Doubts on the Life and Reign of King Richard III, published in 1768
• November 9-- Added Act Two to our online hypertext edition of Shakespeare's Richard the Third.

• Oldest Complete Surviving U.S. Feature Film is 1912 performance of Richard III, donated to the American Film Institute September 1996. Mirror of AFI press release with links to AFI site.

• Medieval Falconry. New addition to the Ohio Chapter-sponsored section on fifteenth century life.

• The Warkworth Chronicle, a fifteenth-century account of the first thirteen years of the reign of Edward IV.

• This year's Schallek Scholars. The recipients of the American Branch's William B. Schallek Memorial Graduate Fellowship Awards, and their dissertation topics.

September 1996

• September 10, 1996 Two new additions:
  • The Wardrobe Accounts of Edward IV and the Privy Purse Expenses of Elizabeth of York are now complete.
  • "The Color of Honesty," an essay on Polydore Vergil by Jeffrey M. Wheeler, who also provided the transcription of portions of the Anglica Historia.

August 1996

• August 26, 1996--Added a significant Tudor source: the relevant books of Polydore Vergil's Anglica Historia (109 KB file, original 16th century spelling)

July 1996

• July 25, 1996--Added links to information on Annual General Meetings for The American Branch, September 27-29 in Philadelphia, and The Parent Society, October 5 in London.
• July 8, 1996--Every Ricardian's favorite fiction author, Sharon Kay Penman, branches out with the forthcoming release of the first in her series of medieval mysteries, The Queen's Man.
